This is an ongoing project through the month of October. We partner with The Huntsville Hospital Breast Center to provide post-surgery pillows. These heart-shaped pillows provide comfort and remind breast cancer patients that they are loved! The Huntsville Breast Center serves 50+ new patients each month. We have delivered more than 1400 pillows since we started in May 2023, praise God! We are running very low on Polyfil. Gift cards to Walmart/donations for Polyfil will allow us to continue this valuable serve. Walmart Wish List: https://www.walmart.com/lists/shared/WL/9f4dd079-b0a0-434b-8be5-fa3906ff21c8
The Lovelady Center takes in approximately 100 new residents per month. Their mission is to "help women rebuild their lives and walk forward with faith-driven hope...". Words of encouragement are given to each new resident on arrival. The goal of this project is to provide the center with enough cards/letters to reach these new residents as they begin their journey. Please send as many as you are led to write. Each correspondence makes a huge difference to these ladies. Include scriptures and prayers that will uplift them and give them the tools to strengthen their bond with God. Cards/Letters should be addressed "For a Lovelady". Please sign cards "Your Church of the Highlands Family". Please do not seal the envelopes. Please mail cards to: The Lovelady Center Rachel Elledge, Volunteer Coordinator 7916 2nd Avenue South Birmingham, AL 35206
Join us at this community event! We’ll have a booth raising awareness about human trafficking and sharing resources that bring hope. We’ll also be grilling 500 hotdogs and serving chips and drinks to bless the community. Come ready to help, connect, and invite people to church—we can’t wait to see you there!
Please join our team as we assist visitors and members after each service on Sunday with essential items, school supplies, hygiene products and information about community agencies that offer rent and utility assistance, food banks and soup kitchens, clothing and transportation assistance. You will be interviewing each guest, offering prayer and support as you determine what their needs are. Serve opportunities are 1st and 3rd Sunday or 2nd and 4th Sunday.
Prayer is our first and last response to the atrocity of human trafficking and the importance of prayer cannot be overemphasized in this fight to abolish trafficking. We will meet for corporate worship and the message during Saturday morning prayer. Then we will meet in the prayer room during individual prayer to pray over the C.A.R.E.S. Prayer Guide.
Need a few people to help serve dinner and/or provide a side dish for a potluck. Help with a meal Tuesday, October 28th for the families attending their Circles meeting at Open Door. Let’s show Jesus’s love and support to those less fortunate who are trying to better themselves. You can help by supplying any side dish or serve. If you don’t have time to stay that is perfectly fine.
Hey there! We would be thrilled if you could join us every Monday night to share a delicious meal and groceries from Manna House with our neighbors in the Northwood and Love Communities. We are all about restoring hope, and we believe that together we can make a positive difference in the lives of those around us as we connect. When you arrive, we will welcome you with open arms and assign you to a team where you can help distribute meals and groceries. Don't worry if you don't have a red SERVE shirt, we can provide one for you! You can bring your small group too, and we will make sure to accommodate everyone. In groups of 2 or more, we will visit our neighbors' homes and share a meal with them. We believe that this is a great way to connect with people on a personal level, and to build lasting relationships that will enrich our community for years to come. Afterward, we will gather at the SERVE trailer to share prayers and testimonies of the night. We are excited to welcome you to this wonderful opportunity to connect with our community, and share in the joy of serving others. So come on over to the Cavalry Hill Neighborhood Center parking lot at 2900 Fairbanks Ave SW, and let's make a difference together!
Hey friends and family! The Piedmont benevolence center serves families and individuals by offering resources such as free clothing, utility bill assistance, and free food. The majority of the employees offer their time voluntarily and while they do an incredible job, it is hard on their bodies and health. Please join me in volunteering your time either inside with the ladies (sorting and organizing donations/ items for the thrift store) or outside with the guys (prepping for food drives, heavy lifting, etc)! NOTE: Piedmont benevolence center is open Monday - Thursday from 9:00am to 1:00pm Stop at the front desk and speak to Brenda, Marie, or Cheryl. Let them know you are offering a hand anywhere you're capable!
