I work as an advocate with a private foundation who assists in helping women and children escape abusive situations. If you’d like to help us help others, this is your perfect opportunity! Two of our “healing homes” are in need of a major refresh, as we’ve been so fortunate to be able to assist several families. The items listed in the link below would be so helpful in making a new, strange place feel like home to these mamas and babies! Thank you so much for your generosity! Every Wednesday we partner with Big Time Ministries and other local churches to host Bible Studies with OMMS students at the school before classes begin. One of the biggest needs is breakfast for the kids. Homemade breakfasts are always the best! Muffins especially are always a hit. Let us know if you would like to make muffins and how many you can make. Drop-off of the muffins will be easiest to Oak Mtn Middle School on the Tuesday afternoon before the Wednesday morning Bible Study. There are a total of over 250 students that attend Big Time Bible Study but we will only be making muffins for one of the grades/gender that is most in need that week.
Manna Ministries is collecting shoes for our annual fundraiser! Clean out your closets and bring us boots, slippers, tennis shoes - any type of shoe! Shoes will be taken to developing countries and we are given a dollar amount per pound. Drop off at Central State Bank Alabaster or Manna Ministries. Thank you!
The Lovelady Center takes approximately 100 new residents per month. Their mission is to "help women rebuild their lives and walk forward with faith driven hope...". Words of encouragement are given to each new resident on arrival . The goal of this project is to provide the center with enough cards/letters to reach these new residents as they begin their journey. Please send as many as you are led to write. Each correspondence makes a huge difference to these ladies. Include scriptures and prayer that will uplift them and give them the tools to strengthen their bond with God. Cards/Letters should be addressed "For a Lovelady". Please sign your first name and Church of the Highlands. Please do not seal the envelopes. Please mail cards to: The Lovelady Center Rachel Elledge, Volunteer Coordinator 7916 2nd Avenue South Birmingham, AL 35206

We would love for you to join us as we come together to pack and pray over 1200 meals for our amazing neighbors in the Northwoods and Love Subdivision communities. Over the past four years, we have built some fantastic relationships with our neighbors, and we want to keep this gift of connection going strong. This is a wonderful indoor opportunity for you to serve your neighbors by taking a pivotal part in the Northwoods Community Night, where we share a meal and build lasting relationships between two neighborhoods. We will be gathering at the Cavalry Hills Community Center (2900 Fairbanks Ave Huntsville AL 35816) at 4:00 pm and will be done by 5:30 pm. So why not come along and bring your friends too? There's always room for more. We hope you can join us today and experience the joy of serving our community while building lasting relationships with our wonderful neighbors. Blessings!
Hey there! We would be thrilled if you could join us every Monday night to share a delicious meal and groceries from Manna House with our neighbors in the Northwood and Love Communities. We are all about restoring hope, and we believe that together we can make a positive difference in the lives of those around us as we connect. When you arrive, we will welcome you with open arms and assign you to a team where you can help distribute meals and groceries. Don't worry if you don't have a red SERVE shirt, we can provide one for you! You can bring your small group too, and we will make sure to accommodate everyone. In groups of 2 or more, we will visit our neighbors' homes and share a meal with them. We believe that this is a great way to connect with people on a personal level, and to build lasting relationships that will enrich our community for years to come. Afterward, we will gather at the SERVE trailer to share prayers and testimonies of the night. We are excited to welcome you to this wonderful opportunity to connect with our community, and share in the joy of serving others. So come on over to the Cavalry Hill Neighborhood Center parking lot at 2900 Fairbanks Ave SW, and let's make a difference together!
