Hello Friends!! -Cancer patients and their families struggle with many hardships including the costs of trying to put food on the table for themselves and their families. -Our local cancer center in the Shoals area is Singing River Cancer Center which houses Clearview Cancer Center (medical oncology) and Alliance Cancer Center (radiation oncology). Singing River Cancer Center has a food pantry for those patients who struggle with the financial costs of just trying to feed themselves and their families. Life should not be this difficult! -The shelves of the food pantry are a bit bare currently so let’s help fill these shelves with shelf stable food items. -Here is a list of the most popular items needed (NO glass containers please): canned meats, soups, canned fruits and veggies, cereal, pasta, oatmeal, juice, protein drinks, gatorade, pasta, rice, hamburger helper. Also any toiletries like soap, shampoo, conditioner,laundry detergent, dish detergent, toothpaste, toilet paper, feminine hygiene products. -If you prefer to make a monetary donation so that frozen meats can be purchased that would be helpful as well: cash or checks made out to “Russell Hill Cancer Center”, and write “Florence Food Bank” on memo line. -Donations of food, toiletries, and money can be dropped off at the Church of the Highlands Headquarters (HQ) at 855 Florence Blvd. in Florence. Someone will be in the office on Tuesdays from 8 am to 8 pm. Someone may be there on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays as well from 8 am to 5 pm, but not always.
