LEADER Debbie Yff DESCRIPTION

Sewing Hope provides heart-shaped pillows for breast cancer patients that are used to relieve post-surgery pain. There are several ways to serve -sewing, stuffing, and cutting the pillows. If you are sewing, please bring your machine. Snacks provided, kids welcome. We have delivered more than 1,650 pillows since May 2023! Thank you so much for helping to provide comfort and love to women fighting breast cancer.

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28 NIV ‭ Teaching children is a calling and requires dedication and perseverance. We want the educators of our schools to know we appreciate them and pray for them daily. We will be gathering in Highland Kids 2at the Grants Mill Campus on Saturday, February 7th at 10:15 (immediately following prayer) to assemble goody bags, write notes of encouragement and scripture cards to be placed in a “Daily Box of Inspiration and Encouragement” that will be placed in each of the teachers lounges in the noted schools. Supplies will be provided for the goody bags and notes. You are welcome to write notes and scripture cards prior to SERVE DAY, bringing them with you to fill these boxes. Come join us for a joyous morning in serve and community with our church family! We can’t wait to see you! Join us in making a difference in the lives of these teachers!

We need to concrete in 2 playground benches for the Pre-K playground. When you arrive, drive around to the back of the school-the Pre-K playground is the smaller playground. We will dig 4 small holes and mix concrete to set the benches.

Come help us prepare snack bags for local schools to help out students who may have food insufficiency and need a little help over the weekends. This is a monthly project and always lots of fun as we pack the bags assembly line style, pray over them and then distribute them to seven local schools. Be blessed as you help bless others. All ages welcome. Please note this is on Thursday morning!

We are going to look & inventory the contents of the Disaster Response trailer to see if we need to restock or replace any of the items. This serve will prepare for future serves in the disaster realm.

Come serve your neighbor by providing a weeks worth of food! Help us sort food and load cars. We are serving over 700 families each Saturday morning! This work is fun, family friendly, and rewarding! We are outside, rain or shine, hot or cold, so dress accordingly. We are handing out over 20,000 lbs of food each Saturday and would love for you to be a part of it! This Serve project is designed to serve those serving on our Outreach Projects. We will assist with event and workspace set-up, organization of materials, coordination and general administrative support. We will also greet volunteers upon their arrival and ensure everyone finds a project to serve on.

This month we will be making neck pillows for the cancer center and dialysis centers. So bring your machine and accessories. We will need stuffers too for the neck pillows and Dinoraffs. Bring a friend!

We will get together to make Valentine Day Cards for the ladies at the Alabama Department of Corrections, Columbiana Facility. Let’s make them all fell loved on and special. Supplies will be provided. Meet in HK lobby!
