Join us in supporting Finding Hope, a nonprofit dedicated to providing sensory care bags for survivors of sexual trauma with special needs. These bags- filled with calming items like fidget tools, stress balls, and positive affirmations- offer comfort and stability during forensic exams and the justice process. All supplies are provided; we simply need volunteers to come to The Clubhouse area in the kids section at the COTH Tuscaloosa campus from 8am to noon to assemble them! This Serve Day project is coordinated by GRACE Ministries of Alabama to help Finding Hope reach their 2025 goal of distributing 1,000 bags to survivors across the state.
No one needs to be reminded more that there is hope beyond their circumstances and a family that loves them than the men and women of our Correctional campuses. Come join us this Serve Day for a family-friendly serve, where we will be writing letters and prayers to both the men and women we see in prison/jail in response to their prayer cards. You'll be able to be the Hands and Feet of Jesus, showing His Love and Grace to those who usually have no family to visit with or call. You hear Pastor Mark mention our church family behind the walls each Sunday - you are their family!! Help us give them hope and remind them of that. Please wear your red Serve shirt. Campuses will have them available each Sunday, and we will have some available that Saturday as well. Please bring your Bible, although Bibles will be available for use. There is no need to bring paper, pens, etc., as that will all be provided. Feel free to come and serve all day OR before or after lunch. Drinks and light food will be available. Start time is after morning prayer and will continue throughout the day. (Bi-lingual in Spanish is very helpful, as we have many Spanish-speaking inmates that write prayer requests).
Writing letter of encouragement and prayer to our extended family in the Alabama Department of Corrections facilities. We will write encouraging letters, share Scriptures and respond to prayer requests from Connection Cards received from the residents ADOC facilities. All supplies will be provided.
There will be three different serve areas available to serve at the Montgomery Zoo! Parakeet Cove, the North America exhibit areas, and the Event/Breezeway area are available to serve for enhancement and cleanup. This will include raking leaves and picking up debris, painting, removing small posts and ropes, removing bird perches, and planting shrubbery and other vegetation where necessary. We hope you consider joining our serve project to serve our local community and help our local zoo!
We need your help to spread National Serve Day excitement and hand out our iconic red Serve shirts! The shirts will be set up on tables in the long hallway, ready for people to grab before and after service. This is a fun and easy way to serve, and a great opportunity to connect with others! Join us on Sunday, July 6th — this serve is specific to before/after the 9am service. Let’s make this day full of energy, joy, and lots of red shirts!
