This project is geared toward women and children. The Lovelady Center (LC) Card Project to benefit the residents of the Lovelady Center. Their mission is to: "Help women rebuild their lives and walk forward with faith-driven hope for the future as a contributing member of our community. The Lovelady Program ensures each woman is taught how to overcome barriers to success by providing access to needed services." Some guidelines for the project: 1. The LC continually needs cards of encouragement so you cannot make too many or too few. 2. Prayerfully write each card and be intentional about the message, whether you purchase or make them. 3. Take your time. It is better to make/write 1 with purpose than 50 hastily thrown together. 4. Locate scripture that speaks to: how God loves us how He has a plan and purpose for us God does not condemn us forgives us and remembers the sin no more He is a loving Father Christ died for us we have hope and can live with Him in eternity 5. Try to place each card/letter in its own envelope so the ladies have their own personal mail to open. 6. You may sign your FIRST NAME ONLY to the cards. 7. You may write on the front of the envelope: For a Lovelady, For a Child of God (any such sentiment that is genuine) 8. PLEASE DO NOT SEAL THE ENVELOPE. Mail and packages are subject to inspection for the safety of all involved. 9. Put all the cards/letters in one larger envelope. Seal this one and address to: Joni Morton, Volunteer Coordinator c/o The Lovelady Center 7916 2nd Avenue South Birmingham, AL 35206 Thank you!

Every Wednesday we partner with Big Time Ministries and other local churches to host Bible Studies with OMMS students at the school before classes begin. One of the biggest needs is breakfast for the kids. Homemade breakfasts are always the best! Muffins especially are always a hit. Let us know if you would like to make muffins and how many you can make. Drop-off of the muffins will be easiest to Oak Mtn Middle School on the Tuesday afternoon before the Wednesday morning Bible Study. There are a total of over 250 students that attend Big Time Bible Study but we will only be making muffins for one of the grades/gender that is most in need that week.

Hey there! We would be thrilled if you could join us every Monday night to share a delicious meal and groceries from Manna House with our neighbors in the Northwood and Love Communities. We are all about restoring hope, and we believe that together we can make a positive difference in the lives of those around us as we connect. When you arrive, we will welcome you with open arms and assign you to a team where you can help distribute meals and groceries. Don't worry if you don't have a red SERVE shirt, we can provide one for you! You can bring your small group too, and we will make sure to accommodate everyone. In groups of 2 or more, we will visit our neighbors' homes and share a meal with them. We believe that this is a great way to connect with people on a personal level, and to build lasting relationships that will enrich our community for years to come. Afterward, we will gather at the SERVE trailer to share prayers and testimonies of the night. We are excited to welcome you to this wonderful opportunity to connect with our community, and share in the joy of serving others. So come on over to the Cavalry Hill Neighborhood Center parking lot at 2900 Fairbanks Ave SW, and let's make a difference together!

Hello Friends!! -Cancer patients and their families struggle with many hardships including the costs of trying to put food on the table for themselves and their families. -Our local cancer center in the Shoals area is Singing River Cancer Center which houses Clearview Cancer Center (medical oncology) and Alliance Cancer Center (radiation oncology). Singing River Cancer Center has a food pantry for those patients who struggle with the financial costs of just trying to feed themselves and their families. Life should not be this difficult! -The shelves of the food pantry are a bit bare currently so let’s help fill these shelves with shelf stable food items. -Here is a list of the most popular items needed (NO glass containers please): canned meats, soups, canned fruits and veggies, cereal, pasta, oatmeal, juice, protein drinks, gatorade, pasta, rice, hamburger helper. Also any toiletries like soap, shampoo, conditioner, laundry detergent, dish detergent, toothpaste, toilet paper, feminine hygiene products. -If you prefer to make a monetary donation so that frozen meats can be purchased that would be helpful as well: cash or checks made out to “Russell Hill Cancer Center”, and write “Florence Food Bank” on memo line. -Donations of food, toiletries, and money can be dropped off at the Church of the Highlands Headquarters (HQ) at 855 Florence Blvd. in Florence. Someone will be in the office on Tuesdays from 8 am to 8 pm. Someone may be there on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays as well from 8 am to 5 pm, but not always.
