Come join us at the King’s Home property as we help in their Prodigal Pottery studio. Volunteer needs change from day to day… we may be packaging a large order, painting ornaments or other simple pieces or working on items for a custom order. Proceeds from the pottery go to King’s Home or the employment of the women living at King’s Home. Prodigal Pottery is handmade by women fleeing homelessness, domestic abuse and sex-trafficking outside of Bham, AL. We work to empty, equip and empower women in need in the name of Jesus!! This project is geared towards Women and Children. Please see the description below. The Lovelady Center (LC) Card Project to benefit the residents of the Lovelady Center. Their mission is to: "Help women rebuild their lives and walk forward with faith-driven hope for the future as a contributing member of our community. The Lovelady Program ensures each woman is taught how to overcome barriers to success by providing access to needed services." Some guidelines for the project: 1. The LC continually needs cards of encouragement so you cannot make too many or too few. 2. Prayerfully write each card and be intentional about the message, whether you purchase or make them. 3. Take your time. It is better to make/write 1 with purpose than 50 hastily thrown together. 4. Locate scripture that speaks to: how God loves us how He has a plan and purpose for us God does not condemn us forgives us and remembers the sin no more He is a loving Father Christ died for us we have hope and can live with Him in eternity 5. Try to place each card/letter in its own envelope so the ladies have their own personal mail to open. 6. You may sign your FIRST NAME ONLY to the cards. 7. You may write on the front of the envelope: For a Lovelady, For a Child of God (any such sentiment that is genuine) 8. PLEASE DO NOT SEAL THE ENVELOPE. Mail and packages are subject to inspection for the safety of all involved. 9. Put all the cards/letters in one larger envelope. Seal this one and address to: Joni Morton, Volunteer Coordinator c/o The Lovelady Center 7916 2nd Avenue South Birmingham, AL 35206 Thank you!
Hey Highlands family we are so excited to partner with Samaritans Purse for the 16th year in a row. They are on a mission to share the Gospel to over 100 countries across the globe. We would love for you to take part in this by two ways: 1. Donating to Columbus Highlands Operation Christmas Child Virtual Serve Project. We are asking for a contribution of $10 per shoebox for shipping, which goes directly to Samaritan's Purse. Please use the link below to contribute to the shipping cost. https://fundraise.samaritanspurse.org/fundraiser/3971368/dashboard/overview?is_new=true 2. Contribute by donating and dropping off the following items to our home: - pencils - pens - paper (notebook, construction, coloring paper, etc.) - toothbrushes - coloring books Please contact the leaders of this project to coordinate a drop off time and date to our home. WE BELIEVE AND ARE PRAYING THAT WE WILL BE ABLE TO PACK AND BLESS 200 CHILDREN ACROSS THE GLOBE! We want you to know that every child that is blessed by this generous donation is going to hear the gospel in their own language. They are offered a Bible study when they receive the box. You can support Operation Christmas Child in advance by giving financially or by donating the items above. Together, we will be able to help so many people in Jesus’ Name! Thanks so much for your generosity! We will be packing the 200 boxes on 10/8 from 12PM - 2PM. This project will be uploaded in September, please be on the lookout for that project! We are excited for this upcoming Christmas season and all that God has in store for this project! Thank you for generosity and hearts to serve not only here locally but to over 100 countries!
